What is a job interview?

An interview is a conversation between a job seeker and an employer that is used to judge the candiate and see if they fit the job requirments. Within this conversation the employer assesses skills, exeperiecne and personality. This process is important in the hiring process as the employer can understand the candidate beyond their CV.

What are the types of interview?

There are many ways to format an interview such as phone, in person, virtual, panel or group interviews. The format in which companies interview job seekers varies however the most popular are in person and virtually.

What do you think are interview techniques are?

I think interview techniques are the strategies and skills used to asses the candidate and candidates can use techniques to stand out more and be prepared. For employers, having prepared open and closed questions will be helpful as the open questions allow them to see the candidates answer without preparetion. Also, having an assessment ready will allow them to check their skillset to see if it fits their job description.

For job seekers some techniques include:

As it is a professional setting having business casual outfit will allow your image to be seen as professional and put together. Having pride in your appearance shows companies that you care about their image and put effort into your daily life.

Speech in an interview should be clear, confident and modertatley slow. This allows the recruiter to understand your answers clearly and shows that you understadn the questions well. It is important to avoid filler words such as "um" , "like" and "sort of" as it shows a lack of confidence which isn't appealing to recruiters especially if the job listed is for a certain character.

While in the interview body language is also important as it shows you are listening and are confident in your abilities. Avoiding actions such as slouching, fidgeting or looking away will result in a more positive interview experience as you are carrying yourself well.

Think about an interview you have done - Do you think you have used any? if you haven't had an interview, is there any of these that might work in everyday life or other situations?

I have used these in an interview as it was my first i wanted to have a good first impression and i used techniques like researching the company before so i was prepared for questions about the company and i also rehearsed questions so i wouldn't be caught off guard and stumble my words.
