Project Selection:
Before looking into the project, we had to have 3 ideas on what we will create and then expand on those ideas. As it is digital technology, I thought about what marketing would be best for the company type and what their brand and website would look like. With this process I chose a healthy energy drink company as that is what stood out the most to me. Below is the Project Selection document where you find my starting ideas from the project.
Contextual Research:
For contextual research I investigated the history of oranges, what significance it has across history, the psychological effects it has both positive and negative, how it is used in marketing and how it is used in web design. Once I established the project main theme, I researched the context of energy drinks and ecommerce websites which are the main components of my project. In project selection I also looked at the possible marketing options the company has so I researched advertisements and promotional videos with the positives and negatives of both. Knowing about the media and the colour orange, I started to look for where orange would fit best in the project and the effect it would have on the brand. My ideas were solidified so I started creating the foundation of the company and created the name, the target audience. the purpose and the company’s identity. This would help me in competitive research as I would have key competitors to research. Below is the contextual research document.
Competitive Research:
To expand on my thoughts and to have a final idea on what it is I am producing, I did competitive research to investigate other companies who have relation to energy drinks or healthy energy drinks. Most of my research went into the website as that is the main build of the project. When researching I made sur that I include hyperlinks and statistic as that is what I have been told to improve on from my previous projects. By looking at what companies did well and what they could improve on, I learnt from their mistakes and ensured my project wouldn’t use the tactics that they failed to do well and only take into consideration what makes the product appeal to the consumer and why it works. Below is the competitive research document where you can find research on websites, promotional videos, social media, posters, billboards, magazine adverts, logos and can designs.
Pre-production:
Preproduction was the time to make my idea, visual. This includes colour palettes, fonts, mock-up designs, mood boards, wire frames, functions, site maps and audio ideas for everything I researched in competitive research. The designs in preproduction show what the project would look like ideally once I finished. Below is the preproduction document.
Build Document:
The build document shows my journey throughout the build, any issues that occurred, the functions of certain code, why I chose certain ways of doing things. The document includes video proof as well as screenshots of the build and the process of making products and advertisements. Below you can find the build portfolio.
Project Evaluation:
To evaluate the choices, I made throughout the idea project I end with the project evaluation. Where I state what happened in the entirety of the project what went well, what went wrong, what would I have done differently and why I made those choices.
Weekly Blogs:
Over the course of the 15-week project I documented my thoughts from the week and talked about breakthroughs, what I found difficult and my goals for the following week. Below you can find a folder of every blog from Week 1 – 15.
