Secondary Research
A study by TSEntertainemt shows that in 2023 the average age range for music festival goers is 18-35. Another Study by UK Festival Awards showed that in 2016 just over 50 percent of festival visitors were aged 30 years and under, with the greatest share being aged between 21 and 25 years. A breakdown of UK festival attendants by gender for the same year shows that 40 percent were male and 60 percent female. In the UK, the most popular genres are Pop, Rock and Hip-hop/R&B as of 2024 (Statista Consumer Insights). Having multiple genres for a festival would allow a bigger audience and a better outcome for a festival. The more specialist a music festival is the more likely it will be too niche to appeal to a wider audience. Making a festival with multiple genres will mean you would need more time to have all the artists perform so a 3-day festival would be the best choice. Lollapalooza is a popular example of a 3-day festival due to its diverse range of music. However, older people don’t like 3-day festivals because they feel burned out as the festival goes on.
9.4% of the UK go to festivals every year which is 6.5 million people. Many festivalgoers say that their reason for attending a festival is the atmosphere, live artist and to see their favourite artists.
Primary Research
The most common ages in my study ranged between 16-24. 45% of participants Answered they were under 18 and 100% of them answered "Yes" for if they would attend a 3-day festival. 35% of Participants were 18-24 and 71% of them answered "Yes" for if they would attend a 3-day festival. However, 29% of them said "No" to whether they would attend a 3-day festival. One Person's reason for saying no was because they only like one genre and would only attend if it were a festival solely for dance music. While another person said they would not attend because they have sensitive ears and would only attend if artists, they like were performing. In the end 90% of people said they would rather attend a 3-day festival with multiple genres than a 1-day festival for genre. The top 3 most popular genres were Rock with 63%, Pop with 50% and Hip-hop with 35%. According to people who have been to a festival before said that the experience was great fun, and many said it was inexpensive and easy. When asked if they would attend a 3-day festival 89% said yes while 11% said no.

Pre-Production Portfolio
I did a questionnaire to decide which theme I was going to use for my website. I found this method the most helpful because it allowed me to understand what people like and don’t like. If I didn’t get feedback on my potential website, I could have used a colour scheme that wasn’t liked as much as the others. In the questionnaire I used mood boards to show my ideas. I used PowerPoint and used google images or screenshots from music festival websites to create a collage.
After finding the most liked theme I used PowerPoint and photoshop to create a mock up version of my website. I used Creamfields as my main inspiration as that was the website that had the best feedback.
